Hi my name is Dee. I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in 2005. My story is on the right hand margin. I will be blogging about my journey currently as I continue seeking treatment.

FINDING A DOCTOR

Finding a Lyme Literate doctor is ALWAYS a headache. This is my third time through the process and it seems it never gets easier. In fact, since I am no longer in the number one state with cases recorded, I am having an even harder time. Apparently there is only one true Lyme Literate doctor that is affiliated with ILADS in Ohio. Unfortunately, he is very expensive and dosen't take insurance (very typical for LLMDs). It would also be like starting over because he wants all of the tests that I have already had so just to get established would be over $1,000. This isn't a step forward so I am considering going back to my old doctor which is yes... 6 hours away.

For those of you out there who have had to travel far to go to your doctor, is it not worth the travel?  The situation is the same. I would be starting over even with a history. My doctor in PA I would be picking up where I left off. The decision is quite complicated so I am still weighing all my options and calling around.

ILADS will help locate a Lyme Literate doctor but there are more doctors who treat Lyme who are not affiliated with them. It is always a long hunt to find them and a lot of it happens by word of mouth. I am new in the area so I am still searching.

If anyone knows any, please let me know!  Thank you so much :)

If anyone wants more information Lyme Disease I have some websites and books on my USEFUL RESOURCES page on the right hand margin.
Thank you Daniel for supporting me as I spent so much time and money seeking treatment. Even though you don't understand what I go through, you want me to be well. :)

my son and me--
He is the reason why I must continue to search for a doctor.
He also is another reason other than Jesus Christ and my husband
that I continue to find joy each day!
